Online Round Table with Andrew Leavitt
When: 12/19/2024
This session will open with insights from Andrew Leavitt's experiences as a concierge meteorologist, where he supports event professionals in navigating both common and severe weather scenarios. Sharing real-life examples of how clear communication and proactive planning have helped give clients, vendors, and attendees peace of mind, streamlined decision-making, and prevented costly last-minute changes.
We'll begin by defining the basics of weather and how to approach typical challenges like light rain, gusty winds, and passing storms. Then, we will cover actionable steps that event professionals can take to distinguish between manageable weather and scenarios that require immediate action or could become life-threatening.
After the introduction, we'll divide into groups to focus on two critical areas:
Managing Common Weather: Learn strategies for dealing with typical conditions like rain or passing storms, setting client expectations, and making contingency plans.
Navigating Severe Weather: Discuss how to prepare for life-threatening conditions such as lightning, hail, or strong winds, ensuring safety while maintaining event flow.
Each group will share experiences and best practices, highlighting practical tools and resources to support planners.
